Released in 1980 as the theme song for the neo-noir crime film American Gigolo, this is perhaps the biggest hit for American New Wave band Blondie. It hit the No.1 spot in the USA, UK and Canada, and was in the top ten in 11 other countries (and just missing the top ten in another half a dozen countries). It was a clear top song of the year for 1980:

We believe this is a tough song to cover successfully. After being personally approached by Blondie's lead singer Deborah Harry, Scottish Indie rock group Franz Ferdinand agreed to do a cover:

American Alternative rock band Garbage have covered the song, with lead singer Shirley Manson doing a great duet with Deborah Harry in 2004: 

American rock band "In This Moment" did a great cover on their 2009 album "The Dream":

It's a popular song for movies, Nikka Costa covered this song for the soundtrack in the 2001 movie "Zoolander"; and Gaby Moreno recorded a Spanish version for the 2017 movie "How to be a Latin Lover":

However, once seen, who can forget the original track being used in the 1998 horror comedy "Bride of Chucky":
