"Anaconda" was released by Trinidadian/American rapper Nicki Minaj in 2014, as the 2nd single, from her third album "The Pinkprint." It was a top ten hit in 8 countries, narrowly missing the no.1 spot in the USA. It did however hit the no.1 spot in the hip hop genre charts in the USA, UK, Canada, & Australia. Its popularity is firmly cemented on platforms like Vevo (where it broke records with 19.6 million views in the first 24 hours) and YouTube (where it was the first video for a female rapper to reach over 1 billion views) - plus, don't miss Canadian rapper "Drake" getting a lap dance:

The song strongly samples, and portrays a similar theme to, "Baby Got Back," a 1992 no.1 hit song in the USA by "Sir Mix-a-Lot":

A short (slightly changed) line from this song, "Oh my gosh, look at her butt" (and sung by bunnies) was used in the 2016 animated musical film, "Sing." It was less than 5 seconds long in the movie, but they made this into a cover/sample song on the deluxe version of soundtrack, titled "Oh. My. Gosh."

Check out these remixes, the Black Flame Remix (2014), and the Dino Roc Trap Remix (2016):

There have been a few parodies made around this song. Here's a totally mean-spirited one about Nicki Minaj; and a fun educational one about Anaconda's,

Just in case you weren't sure about the educational veracity of the last video, here's a short overview of the green anaconda by National Geographic:

Staying with the fun, here's a Bluegrass cover version of the song by Postmodern Jukebox:
