Released in May 1977, this was originally the B-Side of "Can't we just sit down (and talk it over)", the single was quickly flipped around (within 2 months). Although synthesizers were being used by rock groups, and a new genre of electro-new-wave music had begun, the use of a Moog Synth for this disco song was revolutionary. "I feel love" effectively ushered in the era of electronic dance music and American singer, songwriter, actress Donna Summer became the "Queen of Disco".

The song reached the no.1 spot in in 4 countries (including the UK & Australia) and hit the top ten in 12 other countries (including no.6 in the US). The song has had several longer versions produced and undergone several remixes. The Patrick Cowley remix in 1978 became an underground classic and was remixed itself several times, such as this one from 1982:

Bronski Beat covered this song on their 1984 album "Age of Consent", as a medley of "I Feel Love & "Johnny Remember Me":

In 1985 Jimmy Somerville (of Bronski Beat) went on to have a no.3 hit in the UK (with Marc Almond of Soft Cell) with a "Love to love you baby/I feel love/Johnny remember me" medley. Messiah covered "I Feel Love" in 1992, Vanessa-Mae in 1997, Samantha Jade in 2018, and most recently (2019) it's been covered by Sam Smith:

In July 2022 Beyonce used a sample of "I Feel Love" for her track "Summer Renaissance":

An unusual, fun, and very good cover of this track, is by the Blue Man Group (with paint drums and PVC pipes) and featuring Venus Hum:
