"Shape Of You"

This comes from Ed Sheeran's third album and was released in January 2017. It become Spotify's first ever single to stream over 2 billion times, it reached No.1 in over 39 countries worldwide and was the best selling song in the world for 2017. One of the interesting facets of this song is the use of the Marimba (a type of Xylophone).

There have been a few remixes, versions and covers of the song, despite it's relatively short history. For us, the most notable have been the culturally diverse recordings between Ed Sheeran and other artists.

The lyrical rhythm of "Shape of You" is very similar to that of "No Scrubs" by American girl group TLC (released February 1999). So much so that the writers of this song have been given co-writing credits on "Shape Of You".
